The Zoo Wo-Hoo! Continued...

If that isn't a beer belly I don't know what is!

I'm not much of a photographer, but I thought these pictures with the fence truly demonstrated the lack of freedom zoo animals face.  It appeared as a symbol of captivity.  Ahh who am I kidding, I just thought they were cool, no symbolism was intended but your heart can ponder its meaning if there is one.

We thought this was a funny looking bird and decided that few people probably took his/her picture.  We decided that he/she, although odd looking, deserved to have his/her picture taken just like the rest of the animals.

The Zoo Wo-Hoo!

One day I want snorkel with these guys!

Don-a, Don-a, Don-a (Thats supposed to be the jaws music)...

Turtle, Turtle, Turtle...
No my dear, thats not Dumbo.
This poor guy made us realize how closely related humans and apes/monkeys/gorillas really are.  It was so funny, as we watched this gorilla it was as if he had worked a long day and now was ready to relax.

My New Toy

My Dell laptop has been on its last leg for a while now.  I began looking at a new computer back in May, but I was waiting for a possible update to Apple's laptops.  The update never came and is scheduled to arrive in October.  Apple offered a back to school promotion where you buy an apple computer and you get a free ipod touch and printer.  I would have loved to waited for the new updates, but I figured they wouldn't come out until the back to school promotion had ended.  Anyways, we went to the Apple store on our little trip to Albuquerque.  I believe we spent about two hours in the store (Thanks for your patience Em!).  I asked every possible question that came to mind, and ended up purchasing a Macbook Pro.  I would recommend a Mac to anyone that either hates windows vista or wants an amazing computer.  I have been told I'm crazy for going Mac, but ya know what I will never go back!
Em was pretty excited about her new printer!  The printer we have now just wasn't pulling its weight for all the scrap booking Em's been doing.
Isn't it SHINY!!!  I it has causes a little "squirrel-ness" for me and my colleagues.

Our Trip To Albuquerque

Emily has really been a trooper this summer.  Throughout the summer Em worked every friday and saturday.  This was done for a couple reasons, one it allows her to not have to work on sundays, second it worked best with her school schedule, and three her work makes them work so many weekend shifts.  When the fall semester was in the midst of starting, Em decided that we needed to get out of Vegas for a couple of days.  We had a great time!  We went to the Apple store, the zoo and aquarium, hobby lobby, other shopping places, and The Dark Knight.  Oh and we stayed at a four star hotel, which was really nice until we had no water to shower.  I thought four star meant hot water...guess I was mistaken.

Darn car accidents and construction!

As some of you know I am doing my practicum hours with a local psychologist in town.  Each week I observe therapy sessions and complete forensic evaluations.  On Friday of most weeks I go to Albuquerque with him to complete the competency evaluations of juvenile offenders.  On one particular afternoon, we finished our evaluations and headed home.  Little did we know there was a huge accident that blocked the two lane highway just outside of Albuquerque.  In the span of 45 minutes we moved less than 100 yards.  As we putted along the road we noticed an abundance of cars entering the weeds between the highway in order to turn around and pick another route.  We contemplated doing the same thing for those 45 minutes til we decided to go another way home.  The only problem with going the other route is that it would add another hour onto the normal two hour drive.  We turned around and headed through one of the ugly parts of New Mexico (according to my supervisor).   Besides the fact that I can count the driving hours into my practicum hours (we have to have a total of 780) is that I got to see this amazing rainbow!  Other than that, I just wanted to get home!  We later found out that our decision of going the different route had paid off, the accident was so bad that the traffic was only able to pass the accident on the shoulder of the road and the accident was more than just a couple of cars.

Fourth of July

Ya, this is a little outdated but I decided to post them anyways.  On the Fourth of July we were invited to go over to a friends house to watch the fireworks, but we decided to try and make this a date night.  Emily had to work that day and one of her co-workers told her, the best place to see the fireworks is up on a hill that over looks the city.  We drove up to this hill (only a four or five minute drive) and noticed a couple other cars, but we really know what to expect, I mean we live in a small town in New Mexico so the fireworks can't be that great.  Well they weren't, but they were much better than what I had expected.  As we watched the fireworks we reminisced the good ol' days in Utah of times with family, hamburgers, and fireworks.  All in all we had a good time watching the fireworks.
